Beit Tzipora

Removing Barriers,
Providing Opportunities
& Shaping Futures

Empowering Ethiopian Israelis and other community members with opportunities to learn, grow, excel, and fully participate in Israeli society.

Who We Are

The Beit Tzipora Centers for Study and Enrichment in Israel are an initiative of The Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, rooted in Holocaust remembrance and the Wiesel family’s vision that a just society does more than tolerate differences–it actively works to include all citizens in its progress.

Named in memory of Elie Wiesel’s younger sister, Tzipora, who was murdered in Auschwitz, these Centers honor her legacy with programming that fosters understanding, acceptance, and equality through youth education, enrichment, and support.

Located in Ashkelon and Kiryat Malachi, Beit Tzipora serves approximately 600 students annually, empowering children, parents, and communities by removing barriers and providing equal opportunities.

Beit Tzipora uses innovative teaching methods to help these children overcome language and social barriers and integrate into Israeli society. Recognizing the demands of Israel’s high-tech economy, the Centers provide STEM education to prepare students for specialized military programs and university admission.

Amid the ongoing threat from missiles and terrorism, the Centers have become a place of emotional refuge and resilience. With many fathers on reserve duty, we offer families support to navigate the challenges of daily life and security-related stress, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help alleviate anxiety.

While 1 in 3 Ethiopian Israelis fail to graduate, 4 out of 5 Beit Tzipora students receive diplomas — matching the national average.

In the words of
those we’ve helped

The Center is very important to my family. All of my kids have had the chance to participate and learn. They want to come even when they are sick.

Our top class at age 15  learns Java at the university level. Working algorithms, debugging code, and developing self-learning capabilities.

Ofer Komem, Israeli entrepreneur

I really loved the moot court experience where I learned about prosecution and defense, and where I got to practice like in a real court room.

Jonathan Pardo, 16-year-old student enrolled in the high-tech program

The Center made a really big difference in their ability to succeed later in life.

Ilana Yisvark, teacher at the Kiryat Malachi Center for 18+ years

Beit Tzipora was a very supportive place for me. It assisted me in my studies and enabled me to have a meaningful military service. I served in an elite technological intelligence unit. I owe a lot to Beit Tzipora.

Hodaya, alumna

Here the children get support and reinforcement. Time is invested in helping them with the homework and encouraging social and peer group interaction. Beit Tzipora provides all that a child needs, and the staff are amazing! They support the children, care for them, give them love, and want them to achieve the best results.

Etiat, mother of student Yonatan

I love coming here. I feel safe here. I feel accepted and cared for here. I have fun. I have friends. My teachers are really nice.

Child

As a parent, I also benefit from the classes and lectures that are provided to us. We learn a lot about how to be better parents in Israel, especially understanding how things are different in Israel from Ethiopia.

Agara Mingussto, parent

Your support keeps our doors open and children off the waitlist.

With almost 200 children waitlisted at each Center – now more than ever – Beit Tzipora is vital to the future of children, families, and communities in Ashkelon and Kiryat Malachi.

Committed to turning at-risk students into actively engaged citizens of Israel’s tomorrow, Beit Tzipora is building a stronger, more unified Israel for everyone.

Investing in our mission today means securing a better future for Ethiopian Israelis and other vulnerable community members.

  • A future where today’s children become tomorrow’s leaders who serve local communities and benefit Israel and beyond.
  • A future of understanding, acceptance, and equality for everyone.
  • A future without waitlists, where every child gets the support they need.
